COMPETITION: Eight  Count  Dance Team Program (ECDT)

The ECDT are the competition branch of SSSPA. The goal of the ECDT is to provide dancers with outside dance opportunities.Being on a competition team is about far more than trying to win – it is also about striving to always be your best and sharing your passion with others. It provides dancers with the chance to gain self-confidence and self-esteem while also providing an enriching experience.

ECDT Teams

Since competitions are set up by age categories,  ECDT MEMBERS are grouped in the same fashion. There are  the Alphas (11 and older) and the Betas (10 and younger).

ECDT Auditions

There are yearly auditions for placement on the ECDT. Students are required to have had at least one year of dance prior to auditioning. ECDT dancers learn lyrical, jazz and hip-hop routines for competitions in ECDT class. Enrollment in ECDT classes does not count towards multiple class discounts.

ECDT Concurrent Enrollment Requirements

ECDT dancers must also take at least one ballet class and (optional) one hip-hop class a week while on the ECDT team.

ECDT Fees

In addition to paying tuition, ECDT must pay competition entry fees and costume fees. Competition entry fees are usually $30 per dance and each ECDT member performs three dances at each competition. Costumes are charged per costume.
